There is tremendous value in serendipity, in experimentation and allowing yourself to be open randomness, to explore new things.
Many things in my life have happened in that manner. I met my best friend like that. The best friend would eventually become my soulmate. I used to share everything with that person.
“The joy that isn’t shared, I’ve heard, dies young.” — Anne Sexton
That’s a powerful thought! So now when I find something joyful, and since I can’t share it with the soulmate, I share it here…
I encountered one such thing worth sharing.
I stumbled upon private concert videos of Akanksha Grover and watched many of her reels and Youtube videos on loop. She is very different and unique; maybe because I’m just finding her now. But I liked her voice quality, her style and the overall approach. At times her limitations were evident, but who is perfect in that sense? We are used to Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle for decades. We also have Sadhana Sargam, Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan who are great in their own right. In Hindustani Classical and Ghazals etc there were many great female artists – from Kishori Amonkar to Shobha Gurtu and from Begam Akhtar to Abida Parveen. But the rage is less compared to the male artists’. So when there is a new, fresh, different, unique female voice, it’s a welcome addition!
Do check Akanksha Grover on Youtube or Instagram.
After exhausting Youtube videos I checked Akanksha’s Instagram account which has many more reels.
