The best way to make learning interesting is to throw in Gamification!
Here is one way how we can get better at using ChatGPT and have some fun at the same time!
I solved today’s Wordle (https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html) using ChatGPT. I took a word suggestion from ChatGPT, put it in Wordle and gave feedback/instructions to ChatGPT to refine the next word suggestion.
I learned something in the process! It’s really difficult to express out thoughts as “precise instructions” for someone else. We assume a lot. We take too many things for granted. We don’t state the obvious!
However if we improve on some of those communications aspects, we can get a lot done!
Here is my experience of solving Wordle using ChatGPT:
I started with a simple query to check if ChatGPT (henceforth “CG”) knew about Wordle. Completely unnecessary, but I thought it would be a good warm-up for the machine and also it’s better to start with a leisurely chat and build some rapport with CG 😋

Then I asked for the first word suggestion. CG replied “apple”. I wondered if there was some hidden meaning in that. I mean, why apple, why not tesla?

Anyways, I entered “apple” in Wordle window and tried to pass on the feedback to CG. You may check the first word feedback from Wordle and see if I gave meaningful inputs to CG. I thought I did. CG disagreed. It goofed up on letter “E” at the fifth place.
I tried to reason with CG and gave additional inputs.
CG apologised for the misunderstanding, repeated my instructions and then gave a new word “tramp” which didn’t comply with my instructions!

It felt like a conversation with my spouse (except for the apology part).
I tried to clarify. CG listened and again repeated what I said. And yet it threw a new word “sweep” which didn’t comply with my inputs. In fact CG had the audacity to tell me that letter “E” was in correct place (which wasn’t the case).

Anyways, by this time I realised that if I keep on arguing with CG, I’ll never escape this (that’s where my experience of being married came handy!)
So I decided to enter “sweep” as the second word and gave the feedback to CG.

CG suggested “slopy”as the next word. I entered that in Wordle and gave feedback to CG. This time, I think, I did a great job of giving precise and meaningful inputs to CG. CG repeated my inputs precisely and gave me “scope”.

Guess what! SCOPE was the answer! CG and I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts!

Moral of the story is: You can be a bit daring when your spouse is not on reading your blog 😎
