Merry Christmas: A poem, two thoughts and a movie with two trailers

Christmas and New Year’s move

toward us

again

.

the old sickening

duet

.

the masses coming out

of their TV

caves

.

the family

gatherings

.

the gross,

dull

nothingness,

the fake

drunks,

the fake

smiles,

the fake

people

.

may we live

through this

somehow,

one more

time

— Charles Bukowski

Thought 1: Don’t Try

I read few lines/quotes of Bukowski this year on Twitter. Because of algorithm they kept on appearing more often and I got really interested in this person. I saw a small video “Don’t Try” and was really impressed by his life! I want to read more of his work in 2024

Thought 2: Failure is Freedom

Here is a longer version of his life philosophy and yet another powerful message “Failure is Freedom”. He was a late bloomer, because famous after the age of 50. But he just kept at it for all his life. Kept writing and writing…

I like Shriram Raghavan’s style of film making. Andhadhun was very quirky! So was Ek haseena Thi. I didn’t watch Badlapur entirely, but it looked edgy in few parts which I saw.

So I was excited when trailer of his new movie – Merry Christmas dropped. It was supposed to release on Christmas, however because of Dunki and Salaar releases it was pushed ahead till 12th January.

What caught my attention was an interesting and intriguing trick he has done. He released Hindi and Tamil trailers and both are totally different! It seems as if they are different movies with the same actors. It could be intentional. Or it could be a clever trick to cater to different audiences and arouse more curiosity. Whatever it is; he has succeeded. People are talking about the differences and making guesses about the plot.

Check for yourself:

Looking forward to Merry Christmas!
