When I started my career with Infosys more than 22 years ago, the most influential person at Infosys for me was Mr N R Narayana Murthy (NRN). He had all the clout and was seen as the patriarch of Infosys family. He had a cult following since he had helped hundreds of his early employees to become millionaire through ESOPs.
However, after joining there, very soon I got captivated by Nandan Nilekani. He had just taken over as the CEO, he was 10 years younger than NRN and came across as more professional, no-nonsense person who meant business. NRN often liked to preach, or show his father/teacher like side patronising Infosys employees.
Nandan was sharp, sometimes direct/emotionless and had a better foresight.
I met NRN twice in a small group of 2-3 people. I never got a chance to meet Nandan like that; however I attended many of his Town Halls and keynote addressed and keenly followed his interviews over the last 20 years.
Of late, in last 10 years, my equation with Nandan has been a mix of love-hate. Hate because of his leaning towards modi regime and praise of that sanghi bigot.
That aside, I still admire him for a lot of reasons.
So when I came across two of his recent interviews I immediately watched those and liked a lot. Both are somewhat repetitive in nature but that’s OK. I liked the one with Nikhil Kamath more.
Do check out these if you are interested in Nandan’s work or curious to know more about Aadhar and Digital Public Infrastructure and related concepts/terms.
