M.A.M.A. and Nothing University ads by Cadbury 5 Star are amazing!
We should be a short-term pessimist (cautious) and long-term optimist.
However, people tend to do exactly the opposite. The hype about AI is so much that it’s going to disappoint in near future. Once the euphoria is over and sanity is restored, those who are doing really good work in this area will be able to focus on long-term breakthroughs.
Bill Gates once said: “Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.”
The way everything is being dipped in “AI sauce” and served as some amazing dish is not sustainable. It will neither be tasty nor healthy.
I sometimes wonder how many of those CXO leaders, Business Managers and Tech Gurus who are spending huge budgets and energy on AI initiatives are honest and truthful to themselves. How often do they assess the outcomes and the real progress/impact of AI initiatives?
Remember what Richard P. Feynman said: “The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”
