15th August 1992: 30 Years of Roja and A R Rahman

A R Rahman’s first film as a composer, “Roja” released on 15th August 1992…30 years ago on this day!

I still remember the sensation created by Roja songs and the beginning of the cult of A R Rahman!

Roja was made in Tamil but it was also dubbed in Hindi. All the songs were recorded again for Hindi version.

Interestingly, there was a plan to release Roja in Marathi as well. Two songs were recorded for Marathi version, but later the plan was shelved. These two Marathi songs of Roja have become a treasure for Marathi music lovers
