KVizzing with the Comedians by Kumar Varun

I like solving puzzles – math puzzles to be specific. I also like certain types of quizzes. While growing up I used to watch Bournvita Quiz Contest conducted by (now Trinamool Congress MP) Derek O’brien. The smart and sharp kids from the Convent/English medium schools would appear very impressive and knowledgable!

Quiz is a technique of “gamification of learning process”. Anything becomes interesting if it’s converted into a likeable game. Likeable part is important; and that’s why setting up quizzes is a huge task! Siddharth Basu or people like him who contribute to game shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) or its original Avatar – Who Wants To Be A Millionaire don’t get the credit they deserve. Usually it’s the anchor who steals the limelight.

Good quiz shows are rare. One such online show I came across during the pandemic was KVizzing with the Comedians by Kumar Varun. If you like quizzes you would have noticed by now that KVizzing is a word play on Kumar Varun’s initials (KV) and quizzing.

The format is interesting. KV brings few stand-up comedians and hosts a quiz – sometimes thematic (e.g. Business) or general – and the quiz is conducted in a leisurely format with some banter, humour and fun. What surprised me was that many of the comedians are actually very knowledgable and well-read, well-informed folks! The quiz format is interesting and the questions are also very good and expand your knowledge and satisfy your curiosity. I have been following many shows since last couple of years but strangely never wrote about it before.
