Here is an interesting article by Manu Joseph in his weekly column in Mint newspaper.
Purpose may not be as important as it’s made out to be
I partially agree with point of view that “Purpose” was created or at least propagated by a small group of people for some “purpose”. Self-help books is a big category who sell “Purpose” because that suits the type of contents they write.
I am not denying utility or usefulness of the concept of Purpose. However, it is also true that it’s a sophisticated concept relevant for a certain section of society or for a particular phase in life or for a specific kind of purpose.
One can still live a very enriching and fulfilling life even without having a purpose. Purpose is just a tool. It’s not the reason for being.
