When I started reading English, I read fiction for the first few years. The typical trajectory of any Indian middle-class boy who was not from English medium. I started with Agatha Christie and P G Wodehouse books and then Perry Mason, Ronald Dahl, Jeffry Archer, Dan Brown, followed by Indian English (Malgudi Days etc). This was in early 1990’s. FYI, I have not yet read a single Harry Potter book or Lord of The Rings.
And then I discovered the world of non-fiction – particularly business books. And since then I have mostly read non-fiction only (maybe 75-80%). I have read several business biographies and books on how great companies were built. One of such books was How Google Works. And couple of others on Google. I was fascinated by the organisation and some of their business principles.
Recently I watched this video on Structuring Teams and Scaling Google. It’s more than 1 hour long and has some deep insights on people practices at Google.
Do watch this if you like such subjects on businesses, building great organisations etc.
