Here is the list of Ten Richest People In The World.
The list is interesting and several observations and insights can be made.
However, I want to write about two specific ones — the first one and the 10th one in the list.
Elon Musk has been a prodigy right from his teens. He built and sold PayPal at the turn of this century and made $180 million…when he was just 30 years old.
$180 million (or ₹1350 Crore today) is a huge money for a 30-year old (in fact for anybody). Someone else would have retired or done some trivial things for the rest of his life.
Instead, Elon put ALL his money into his next two ventures – Tesla and SpaceX!
By March 2020, Elon’s net worth was $27 Billion. It rose to $170 Billion by end of December 2020. And today, just within 11 months, his net worth stands at $265 Billion!
Amazing journey! From $180 million to $285 Billion in 20-22 years! That’s 1500 times!
If you look at the list, number 1 through 9 are owners of some business. Number 10, Warren Buffett, is the only one who doesn’t own a specific business; rather owns a business that has equity ownership in several businesses (at least 60-70)!
So WB is unique in the list and he is also very stable. The fact that he has been part of the list since 2-3 decades confirms that.
Warren Buffett (age 90) and his partner Charlie Munger (will turn 98 on 1st Jan) are unique in another way. They are probably the only (or one of very very few) living people who have witnessed Forbes Richest list universe grow from Millions to Billions to now Trillions!
