Steve Jobs, Adobe and A Lesson In Effective Communication

Some people have a knack of being very economical and yet effective with their words. It’s often observed that great leaders use fewer words and still say a lot! Of course it cannot be generalised be cause it’s also a function of commend over language.

However, whenever I see such examples I tend to share with my contacts.

One of the best communicators I think was Steve Jobs. And he was very direct, to the point of being offensive, in his communication.

If you have followed Steve Jobs and Apple’s rivalry with Adobe and how they fought over Adobe Flash, you would find it fascinating to know a backstory – related to Steve Jobs and Adobe’s CEO.

Here is an email exchange going back to 2005 about the topic of poaching talent from each other.

It’s amazing to read such conversations and get insights about leadership qualities and communication style of people who achieved great things in their lives!
